Black Mirror

Black Mirror is a British dystopian sci-fi anthology television series that explores a twisted, high-tech near-future where humanity’s greatest innovations and darkest instincts collide. Each episode is its own different plot, characters, setting, concept, etc. There are 5 seasons of Black Mirror in addition to an interactive, choose-your-own-adventure type movie called Black Mirror: Bandersnatch.

Black Mirror was inspired by older anthology series, such as The Twilight Zone, which Brooker felt were able to deal with controversial, contemporary topics with less fear of censorship. Brooker developed Black Mirror to highlight topics related to our relationship with technology, creating stories that feature “the way we live now – and the way we might be living in 10 minutes’ time if we’re clumsy.

Editor’s Note:

Black Mirror is so well-made of a show that it actually makes you feel uneasy watching it. It is futuristic and sci-fi, while at the same time, feels very present, often making you think as you watch it: "gee, that feels like it could be happening right now." Each episode is like its own mini-movie. We tell people to skip the very first pig episode in fear that that will turn them off of the entire series. But we're glad this show is out there as it's unique and it highlights problems in our current society and issues surely on the horizon.
